Restored Medieval Church

I think I have at some time written an article about St. Teilo’s Church in Wales. I link to a new article by Christian Campbell whose blog is becoming interesting as he distances himself from apologetics and some of the more hackneyed subjects. I find many of his articles on a Celtic theme quite stimulating. I reproduce here what in my opinion seems to be the loveliest photo.

1 Response to Restored Medieval Church

  1. Paul Nicholls ofs's avatar Paul Nicholls ofs says:

Good to see some of us have the same taste, perahps many of us. I was most pleased with the ascetics of this church. It would be nice to set up a personal chapel, modelled somewhat on the sanctuary of St. Telio’s Church, even have a hanging pyx, although it would not contained the reserved sacrament, unless I became an anchorite. I think, in some mystical way, our English Church heritage is deeply engrained in some of us which makes such things so appealing. Personally, I have the mentality of a Medieval Sarum Rite English Catholic in that things like frontals on altars, riddel posts and hanging pyxes appeal to be more than what I see in my daily experience at mass in the Roman Catholic Church. The EF mass evokes some feeling of this, but just doesn’t quite make it as far a my personal preferences and sensibilities are concerned. It would be wonderful if permission was given to celebrate the Sarum Rite Mass in this beautiful church, thus making it more than just a museum piece.
