This is where cynicism (modern meaning of the word) is taking us. The implication is that British people would be seeking political asylum in France like Syrian people fleeing the war.
Kyrie eleison! May God avert such a scourge because the ones whose fault it is would be rolling in money, laughing all the way to the bank, and the innocent civilians would suffer.

I don’t know much about Twitter, but apparently Xavier Bertrand, President of Le conseil régional des Hauts-de-France, and Jean-Paul Mulot, Représentant Permanent de la Région Hauts-de-France, have both been saying heartening things about Calais, the region, and the French government the last couple days, even in the event of of a ‘Brexit no agreement’. More power to their respective elbows!
